Several characteristics unite the Scandinavian approach to design. A number of these have their origin in the nature of the Nordic environment. During the long months of darkness, our homes had to offer psychological warmth as well as physical shelter. Because of this, there is always a human quality to the design — even at its most futuristic. The clean and functional beauty of Scandinavian design may have grown popular as the new, sought-after style, but for us it has always been a part of our lives. 

Sarah Littke, founder, was born and raised in Sweden. As a native Swede she has a soft spot for Scandinavian Design. Though her interiors are typically clean, functional and open looking, she is comfortable working in a variety of styles, guided by her client's individual needs and tastes. Being a mom of three young kids, Sarah knows first-hand the importance of balancing form with function. She loves to help busy, growing families reduce stress by creating order and beauty in their homes. 

Sarah ran an interior design business in Sweden before moving with her husband and their kids to Silicon Valley. Interior design has always been her passion. Prior to her design career, she worked as a project manager for non-profits in developing countries around Africa and Asia.

Sarah has a network of professional Friends, hence the name of the business. If you need help besides interior design, she can refer to, and collaborate with these skillful architects, lighting designers, landscape architects and contractors.

We are so lucky to be able to do what we do for a living, and giving back is a way for us to express our gratitude. 5% of Sarah & Friends Interiors' profit is being donated to International Justice Mission, an organization that works to protect the poor from violence in the developing world.
